I'm happy to announce that Tempest of My Eyes will have its world premiere at Suspaustas Laikas Festival 2025 in Vilnius! Also proud to mention that our short film will start the event at the opening screening of the festival:
"Cartographies of Identity" on Wednesday 30th July at 19:00.
Location: MO Museum, Cinema Hall, Vilnius
In adapting Shakespeare's The Tempest into a short film, my goal was to immerse the concept of location, to intertwine the material and mental worlds of the story. Tempest of My Eyes (2025) aims to bring out the depth of Shakespeare’s work — how it articulates the balance between personal power and humility, vengeance and forgiveness, isolation and connection. The soundtrack was made by Jyri Pirinen and Aino Eerola for more than ten years, it draws inspiration from the live sound design and expanded cinema. Our short film has also strong visual language set in to the post-apocalyptic landscape with a science-fictious elements. Many of the film’s key images are located on ”forgotten places”: an old Soviet scientific ghost town, a metal scrap yard, an abandoned children’s traffic park, and carefully built filming sets in the studio. These landscapes and locations re-mythologizes the story of The Tempest for a modern audience.
I hope that this cinematic interpretation of The Tempest will resonate with each viewer, and that it will provoke encounters between experiencing self and the world.
