Change of Faces in the opening concert of SPHERE Festival in the National Arts Centre in Ottawa!

From September 22-25, the National Arts Centre Orchestra is presenting the SPHERE Festival: a four-day music, arts and sciences festival emphasizing “Listening to the Earth” in the time of climate crisis and biodiversity loss, through a Canadian, Indigenous and Nordic lens.

In the festival’s opening concert, on September 22, 2022 there will be Outi Tarkiainen’s song cycle The Earth, Spring’s Daughter (2014-2015) including the Epilogue which is accompanied by the showing of the short film Change of Faces (2016) by filmmaker Elina Oikari. Inspired by Sámi poetry, the video, which merges super 8 mm film and archive material, can be seen as a kinetic meditation about Arctic lifeways and landscapes.
